Subaru has issued Service Bulletin 02-103-07, which identifies a factory design issue with excessive oil mesh screen clogging in the turbocharging system’s oiling system that supplies the turbocharger on all versions of turbocharged vehicles. A blocked screen will cause oil starvation and failure of the turbocharger.

Since the publication of Service Bulletin #02-110-10R for 2010 MY and prior turbocharged engines, which indicates that 3 3/4 months or 3 750 miles is required for oil and filter changes on these vehicles, all 2011 MY turbocharged engines have reverted to the original requirement of 7500 miles (12000 km) or 7 1/2 months, and they are now forced to use synthetic oil.
