Subaru has issued Service Bulletin 02-103-07, which refers to a factory design issue with oil mesh screens in the turbocharging system that supplies the engine’s oil catching screen failing prematurely. Oil starvation and failure of the turbocharger are possible if a blocked screen is ignored.

The following are the details from Service Bulletin #02-110-10R, which was released by Subaru after the accident. The oil and filter change intervals for 2010 MY and earlier turbocharged engines were increased to 3,750 miles (6,000 km) or 3 3/4 months, whereas all 2011 MY turbocharged engines were required to change their oil every 7500 miles (12000 kilometers), up from 7500 miles (12000 kilometers). They’re also required to use synthetic oil now.

How Much Oil Does a Subaru Impreza Take?

2022 2.0L 4-cyl FB20 engine Subaru Impreza takes 4.6 quarts (4.4 liters) with a filter of 0W-20 oil. The Subaru Impreza can use either synthetic or conventional oil. On average, synthetic oil runs for 5,000 miles longer than the latter.

Engine Oil Consumption
