When to Change Engine Oil
The engine computer in this car tells the driver when to replace the oil and filter. This is based on a variety of criteria, including engine revolutions, engine temperature, and kilometers traveled. The mileage at which an oil change is indicated can vary considerably depending on road conditions. Every time the oil is replaced, the system must be reset for the oil life system to function correctly.
When the system determines that the oil life has been reduced, it advises that an oil change is required. A CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON message appears on the display. Oil changes should be carried out as soon as possible within the next 1 000 km (600 mi). It’s conceivable that, if you’re driving in ideal conditions, the oil life system will say you need an oil change for up to a year.
Your engine oil and filter must be replaced at least once a year, and the system must be reset at this time. Your dealer will send trained service personnel who will carry out this operation as well as reset the system.
