How Much Oil Does a Dodge Dart Take?
2.4L Dodge Dart takes 5.5 quarts (5.2 liters) of 0W-20 oil with a filter.
Engine oil must be replaced at the correct level to maintain optimum engine lubrication. Check the oil level on a regular basis, especially during fuel stops. The ideal time to check the oil level is around five minutes after shutting off a fully warmed engine. After waiting overnight, do not check the engine oil level until it has been started up. Checking the engine oil level when the engine is cold will result in an incorrect reading.
Checking the oil while the car is on level ground and just when the engine is hot may improve the accuracy of oil level readings. The range markings on the dipstick should be maintained.
The range markings will be a crosshatch zone that reads SAFE or a crosshatch zone that reads MAX at the low end of the range and MIN at the high end of the range. When the indication reading is below 1 qt (1L), add 1 qt (1L) of oil.

Every time the engine oil is changed, the engine oil filter should be replaced with a new one. All of these manufacturers’ engines have a full-flow type disposable oil filter. For replacement, use a filter of this sort. Replacement filters are available in many different quality levels. Only high-quality filters should be used to guarantee maximum efficiency. MOPAR recommends using high-quality engine oil filters.
Engine Oil Change Intervals
In no case should oil change intervals be greater than 10,000 miles (16,000 km) or 12 months, whichever comes first.
The engine oil change indication system on your vehicle is activated. After a single chime, the EVIC display will show the “Oil Change Required” message for approximately 10 seconds to indicate the next scheduled oil change interval. The engine oil change indicator system is based on a duty cycle, which means that the engine oil change period may vary depending on your driving habits.
The message “Engine Oil Change Indicator System Check” will appear each time you turn the key to the ON/RUN position or cycle the ignition to the ON/RUN position if your vehicle has Keyless Enter-N-GoTM. To turn off the message temporarily, press and release the MENU button. After completing the scheduled maintenance, refer to the following procedure to reset the oil change indicator system (if desired).
Vehicles Equipped With Keyless Enter-N-Go™
- Without pressing the brake pedal, press the ENGINE START/STOP button and cycle the ignition to the ON/ RUN position (Do not start the engine.)
- Fully depress the accelerator pedal, slowly, three times within 10 seconds.
- Without pressing the brake pedal, press the ENGINE START/STOP button once to return the ignition to the OFF/LOCK position.
